§ 12-1. Liability for setting fires.

  • Any person starting a fire without taking adequate precautions to prevent the fire from spreading from a confined area, or any person allowing a fire hazard condition to exist upon his property which creates a fire requiring the services of firefighting equipment not owned by the town, or requiring the expenditure of funds or services of the town shall be liable to the town for a fine in an amount not to exceed the cost of service rendered and cost of control of the fire.
