§ 18-1. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this chapter, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Garbage means every type of refuse accumulation of animal, fruit or vegetable matter which is subject to decay and production of noxious or offensive odors, or which, during or after decay, may serve as breeding or feeding material for germ-carrying insects; specifically included are bottles, cans or other containers or materials which, due to their ability to retain moisture, may serve as breeding places for waterbreeding insects.

    Trash means all types of refuse, including, but not limited to, yard trash and commercial byproducts and debris; but not including garbage and not including hazardous wastes, infectious wastes or septic tank wastes.

    Yard trash means vegetative matter resulting from landscaping maintenance such as tree and shrub trimming, grass clippings and palm fronds.
