§ 2-75. Code enforcement board created; membership; terms.

  • (a)

    There is hereby created a code enforcement board of the town, which shall consist of seven members. Members shall be appointed by the town council. Members shall be residents of the town and shall serve without compensation.

    (b)

    The membership of the code enforcement board shall, whenever possible, include experts in the following fields:

    (1)

    Architecture.

    (2)

    Business.

    (3)

    Engineering.

    (4)

    General contracting.

    (5)

    Subcontracting.

    (6)

    Real estate.

    (c)

    Appointments to fill any vacancy on the board shall be for the remainder of the unexpired term of office. Each term shall be for a period of three years.

    (d)

    Members of the code enforcement board may be removed from office by the town council for cause upon written charges and after public hearing. Any member who fails to attend two out of three successive meetings without cause and without prior approval of the chairperson of the code enforcement board shall automatically forfeit his appointment, and the town council shall promptly fill such vacancy.
